My name is Shannon Miller and I am a family nurse practitioner. I have over 18 years of experience in the healthcare industry. It is my goal to create an environment for optimal health and wellness to all of my patients and customers.
I’m a Virginia native and feel incredibly grateful to call this beautiful state my lifelong home. As a mom of three amazing children, I spend most of my free time outdoors, staying active, exploring new adventures, and cheering on my alma mater—I’m a proud Hokie! I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Animal Sciences before earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and my Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University.
I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve my community in a way that aligns with my purpose and values. Healthcare today can feel complicated—full of gaps, loopholes, and endless administrative hurdles that too often distract from what matters most: genuine, compassionate patient care.
I became a nurse, and later a nurse practitioner, because I felt called to help people in the most meaningful way possible. I truly enjoy sitting with my patients, listening to their stories, and understanding their concerns. I’ve learned that many answers are discovered through conversation—not just in lab results or physical exams. After years in corporate and insurance-based medicine, I saw how easily high-quality, patient-centered care gets lost. My mission is to restore the kind of care that truly puts patients first.
My approach to care blends traditional evidence-based medicine with the deeper, root-cause philosophy of functional medicine. Instead of simply treating symptoms, I work to understand why those symptoms are occurring—exploring the interplay between hormones, digestion, nutrition, inflammation, stress, lifestyle, and genetics.
Functional medicine allows me to:
My goal is always to support the body’s natural ability to heal, restore balance, and build lifelong wellness rather than temporary relief.
My passion lies in prevention—identifying risks early and empowering people to build healthy, sustainable lifestyles that help prevent chronic disease. IV nutritional therapies are a key part of this process. They are not new or experimental; they are backed by sound evidence and offer meaningful benefits for immunity, energy, recovery, chronic disease support, and overall vitality.
I am equally passionate about nutrition and fitness. Every individual is unique, and no single plan works for everyone. I don’t believe in “fad diets” or rigid approaches that are impossible to maintain. Instead, I partner with my patients to create personalized, realistic, and sustainable strategies that align with their goals and long-term well-being.
To provide the highest level of care, I operate using a Direct Primary Care (DPC) and functional medicine membership model. This approach allows me to offer:
This model removes the limitations and pressures of insurance-based medicine, allowing me to focus solely on providing meaningful, relationship-centered care.
